The Speakers Bureau lists some of the most
prominent speakers and professionals in the field of stuttering. Each
speaker included has his or her own style, presence and perspective, and
has presented with great success to professional associations, public

Kristin A. Chmela, M.A., CCC-SLP
Fluency Therapy & Consulting Service, Illinois
Kristin A. Chmela was a school clinician for
five years prior to opening a private practice and consulting firm
specializing in working with children who stutter. She has presented
numerous workshops on the diagnosis and treatment of childhood
stuttering for clinicians working in the school setting. She is Chair
of the Task Force on Fluency Services in the Schools (ASHA's SID-4)
and coordinator of the Illinois Fluency Group.
Barry Guitar, Ph.D., CCC-SLP
University of Vermont
Barry Guitar is a teacher and clinician at the
University of Vermont, with many years of experience with children,
adolescents, and adults who stutter. He is a person who stutters, and
was a client and student of Charles Van Riper. Barry has published
research and clinical papers in stuttering and is the author of a
chapter in the forthcoming book for clinicians on Lidcombe therapy for
children who stutter.
E. Charles Healey, Ph.D., CCC-SLP
University of Nebraska-Lincoln
A Professor at the University of
Nebraska-Lincoln, Charles Healey is an ASHA Fellow, Past President of
the Nebraska Speech and Hearing Association, and former Associate
Coordinator of ASHA's SID-4. He has published many research articles
and has presented numerous workshops around the U.S. on the clinical
management of stuttering in children and adults.
Diane G. Hill, M.A., CCC-SLP
Specialist in Child Stuttering, Illinois
Diane Hill is Chair of ASHA's Specialty Board on
Fluency Disorders. She is recently retired from Northwestern
University, where she served as Clinical Supervisor and Senior
Lecturer for 32 years. A recognized expert in child stuttering, Diane
most recently collaborated on the book Stuttering Therapy: Rationale
and Principles, by Dr. Hugo Gregory.
Bill Murphy, M.A., CCC-SLP
Purdue University
Bill Murphy is a speech-language pathologist at
Purdue University. He works directly with children and adults who
stutter and has also worked in summer camps for children and teenagers
who stutter. Bill is a recovering stutterer who daily attempts to
"practice what he preaches."
Peter Ramig, Ph.D., CCC-SLP
University of Colorado-Boulder
Dr. Peter Ramig, Fellow and ASHA
certified specialist of stuttering, is Professor and Associate Chair
at the University of Colorado in Boulder. He also owns private
practice clinics in the Denver-Boulder area focusing on the evaluation
and treatment of children and adults who stutter. Peter presents many
workshops annually that focus on numerous practical strategies and
activities for treating preschool, school-age and teens who stutter.
Many video taped intervention segments are used to model and
demonstrate several techniques for each of the child age groups
discussed. In addition, handouts for parents, teachers, and SLPs are
distributed as supplemental information to be used by the clinician.
Dr. Phillip Schneider, Ed.D., CCC-SLP
Queen's College, New York
Phillip Schneider is an Associate Professor at
Queens College, CUNY, and maintains an active private practice in
metropolitan New York. Phil has worked with more than 1,000 children,
teens and adults who stutter, and speaks nationally and
internationally on stuttering therapy. He has been honored by the New
York State Speech Hearing Language Association (SHLA) with the
Outstanding Clinician Award and by the New York City SHLA with the
Distinguished Achievement Award.
Lisa Scott Trautman, Ph.D., CCC-SLP
Florida State University
Lisa Scott Trautman is an Assistant Professor at
The Florida State University in Tallahassee. She teaches stuttering
courses at the graduate level and supervises in the FSU Speech and
Hearing Clinic. A popular speaker nationally, Lisa's vision and
straight-forward style make her a sought-after as an editor,
conference coordinator and collaborator on a wide range of projects.
Patricia M. Zebrowski, Ph.D., CCC-SLP
University of Iowa
Patricia Zebrowski, Ph.D., is Associate
Professor of Speech-Language Pathology at University of Iowa. She
teaches stuttering courses at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral
levels and supervises clients who stutter in the Wendell Johnson
Speech & Hearing Center. A recognized authority on childhood
stuttering, Tricia has authored numerous publications on the topic,
and presented at state, national and international conferences.
