Listed below are various centers and clinics which offer summer programs in the USA and Canada. The Stuttering Foundation of America provides this list only to help in locating a summer program which might be able to assist you in treating stuttering. The Stuttering Foundation of America does not warrant the competency of these programs nor guarantee their treatment.

This intensive one-week clinic, suitable for adults and children as young as eight years old, integrates both Fluency Shaping and Stuttering Modification skills. After the intensive clinic, the rest of the program is completed at home with carefully structured follow-up that is monitored weekly by telephone for at least one year. Offers three programs for children and teens in the summer and programs for adults in May and January. All programs are held in Boston. These intensive four week programs integrate fluency shaping (motor skills) with stuttering modification (attitude modification) techniques. Weekly follow-up sessions are scheduled for a minimum of 3 months following the intensive program. Long-term support is ongoing. Additionally, for children, we offer weekly parent counseling sessions and support to the public school clinician following the program. Partial scholarships may be available. A four week intensive clinic for children ages 8-11 years. Eight three week intensives are conducted throughout each year with four being scheduled during the busy summer months and consist of 100+ hours of individual and small group interaction. It is appropriate for adults, teens and pre-teens as young as age 12. A maximum of eight clients is accepted into each program. The intensive portion of treatment is followed up with two months of structured activities that are included in the initial fee. Many other options for follow up support are also available, and there are several options for financing. Fee for intensive program $4,275. Call, e-mail, write or check website for dates.

For ages 7-15. In its 5th year, Daniel & Friends CAMP TALKALOT offers an exciting summer residential camping experience held in Rochester, NY. Our 2005 program introduces a new Month and Location from prior programs: JULY 3 through JULY 8, to be held on the 150 acre Rotary Sunshine Camp for children (Rush, NY). Camp Talkalot bundles all the fun you would hope to experience by attending a real summer camp (arts, crafts, operating the camp radio station, a low ropes course and climbing tower, even field trips to area attractions). More importantly campers will encounter a specialized program exclusively for young people who stutter. Twice daily workshop topics (coordinated by "Partners in Speech" from Fairport, NY) will reinforce why our campers are here: "Handling Teasing", "New Ways To Relax", "Handling My Anger in Positive Ways", "Speech Therapy Is Worth The Effort", "I Have Great Value Regardless Of How I Speak", and "The Pitfall of Letting Stuttering Keep Me From What I'd Love To Do". Staff will include certified speech pathologists with fluency expertise, Speech Pathology college students, Adults and Teens who are successfully dealing with their own stuttering, as well as a full support staff to make your stay Fun and Safe. Tuition is $375, with scholarship assistance considered.

This is a 12-week (one evening per week) summer session at the College of St. Rose in Albany, New York. Meetings are held on Monday evening from 7:30-8:30 for children and teens and 8:00-9:45 for adults. The program is an integrated approach to stuttering treatment with emphasis on effective communication. There is no charge for this program, although a $25.00 donation to their Fluency Council is suggested. E-mail or call for additional information.

TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED Two-week intensive fluency therapy for stuttering is available for adults and children. During the two weeks the individual will attend 4 days per week from 12-5 (Mon., Wed., Thurs., and Fri.) for a total of 40 hours of therapy. $600 payable first session.

Programs include: MOTHER GOOSE PROGRAM (Preschool): This has been designed to promote use of communication skills in a natural social environment. Language-rich projects and activities stimulate speech growth. The small group setting provides intensive language stimulation from clinicans and peers. Discussions with parents after sessions help to utilize language techniques in the home environment. Meet one time per week for 45 minutes. Most group members also receive one 30-minute individual session per week based on his/her individual needs. This session complements the group goals and focuses more specifically on the individual needs of each child. RAINBOW READINESS (kindergarten through 3rd grade): Group and individual language experiences. Groups meet one time per week for 45-minutes with the option of an individual session one time per week for one-half hour. CLASS (junior high and high school ages): Groups provide opportunities to work on individual skills as well as practicing communication with a small group of peers. Sessions last 45 minutes. COMMUNICATION COUNCIL FOR ADULTS: Provides communication practice using communication enhancing strategies, problem solving difficult speaking situations, practica and use of modification strategies. A summer residential camp/clinic for children ages 6 to 16 with speech and hearing difficulties. There are two ten-day sessions. Offers intensive speech therapy. Campers are encouraged to use and carry over their newly acquired skills 7 days a week through a full range of camp activities. These include swimming (weather permitting), canoeing, fishing, campfires, songfests, nature hikes, discovery trail, sports and arts and crafts. Some scholarship available. Camp is for children ages 7-13 who stutter and will be held June 20-24, 2005. Enrollment is limited, but we do have some scholarships available! An intensive week-long camp filled with individual sessions. Designed for the school-aged boy or girl who often have limited opportunities to work with other children with similar speech characteristics, the Tech Talkers Camp will offer many opportunities for children to work together, talk together, and learn fluency enhancing strategies together. Intensive clinic for adults in October with completer weekend in November. Cost is $2150.00 (Canadian) (early bird rate if paid at least 4 weeks prior to registration) which includes the assessment, treatment clinic, and completer weekend, a progress summary report, individual follow-up sessions at 6 months and 12 months post clinic, and follow-up phone calls at 2,3,4, and 5 years post clinic. An intensive clinic for adolescents, pre-teens, and teens will be held in July with the completer weekend in August. Another clinic will be held from March 16-25, 2000 with the completer weekend in April. Cost is $1695 (Canadian) (early bird rate if paid at least 4 weeks prior to registration). Includes everything explained in the adult clinic. A pre-school clinic for children ages 4-8 will be held in July with completer session in August. This program runs in concert with a parent program that at least one parent must attend. All the activities and instructional language used have been developed specifically for kids. Three-week intensive clinics (six hours per day) for adults are held in January, May, July and October; for adults and older teens (15+) in July; and young teens (12-15) in August. A four-week intensive clinic (three hours per day) for children (7-11) and their families is offered in August. There are extended therapy programs available throughout the year for preschool children and others for whom intensive clinics are not suitable. Three week intensive therapy clinics are held in May and July for adults and mature adolescents. On completion of the course follow up is arranged according to individual need. Follow up may be done in collaboration with a local speech-language pathologist and/or by phone, audio recordings, and e-mail.
